Demos for Macintosh and Linux

These demos are offered for those who have the older 32-bit operating systems or are willing to install those systems or emulators. If you get the programs running, then contact support@shapesoftware.com for purchase instructions.

With release of the Catalina operating system (OS 10.15) support for 32-bit programs on Macintosh has been discontinued.  All Shape Software programs for Macintosh are 32-bit and there are no plans to update to 64-bit, which would require extensive rewriting.  In order to run these programs in a Macintosh it will be necessary to operate or emulate an older OS, such as Mojave (OS 10.14).  There are several ways to do this on a single Intel computer, as discussed here. Emulator applications may allow running 32-bit programs on current Macs. Current Mac and Linux users may also be eligible for free or low-cost switch or upgrade to the Windows version.

Shape Software programs for Linux are also 32-bit and current Linux distributions for Intel computers may or may not support 32-bit programs.  If they do, installation of 32-bit libraries may be required.

Demos for Macintosh - for Intel OS 10.4 through 10.14

All these programs are 32-bit and will run on Intel Macintosh systems up to Mojave (OS 10.14), but will not run on Catalina (OS 10.15) or later.  There are several ways to have both Catalina and older (32-bit) OS versions running on a single Intel Macintosh (but not on current non-Intel-based systems) - how to set this up is discussed on a separate page

The Mac demos are in the form of .pkg installation files. After downloading and uncompressing, right-click on the package file and go ahead with the installation.  By default the entire program folders are installed into the Applications folder on your hard disk but you can select another location.

ATOMS and SHAPE have the Mesa OpenGL libraries statically linked so you do not need to have the dynamic versions of these libraries on your system.
